What Does Your Laundry Area Look Like? Here are 5 Ways to Organize Your Laundry Room.

Laundry rooms are usually ignored and disorganized but it really doesn’t have to be that way. Here are some ideas to have a neat and inviting laundry room where laundry duty won't feel like a chore.

We spend a lot of time doing laundry so why not make it a nice comfortable space, whether its a room in your basement or in a small closet.



Tip 1: Plan the Layout of the Space

  • Measure the space and create a sketch of where the necessary items will be placed.

  • Choose energy efficient appliances that will fit the space.

  • Decide if you need a dryer or just the washing machine.

  • Open shelves are a good idea for easy access to items that are used regularly.

  • Decide on the color scheme

  • The placement of the hanging rod is important.

  • A slim closet will be very useful for the broom, a modern ironing board etc.

  • Closed cupboards are necessary to hide items like extra boxes of detergent etc.

  • Paint the cupboards

  • Get new pulls (door handles) for the cupboards

  • There should be a flat surface/folding table above the machine or against the wall.

  • Most machines are equipped with amazing technology that will save time & reduce energy usage.

  • Invest in a new light-weight, space-saving ironing board & ditch the traditional heavy wooden board.

  • A sink is essential in a laundry room for pre soaking & hand wash.

  • Built in hanging rod or potable hanging rod

  • Nice & sturdy laundry basket

  • Sturdy collapsible hamper

  • Light Fold out chair may come in handy

  • Coordinated spray bottles & containers

  • Small bag for clothes pins

  • Iron plate

Tips:

- Dryer balls cut down on drying time. Sprinkle essential oil to make clothing smell great.


- Open shelving for items in glass containers and for easy access for things that you use regularly. Remember to keep the items on the shelves neat and coordinated.


- Good lighting is essential especially when inspecting laundry


- An area rug will add some softness to the space
